Just found my dog standing over one of my hens. She has lost feathers and flesh from her shoulders and up her neck. I can post pics if need be. Other than this horrible injury, she seems to be okay. What treatment should I give her?

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Coat the injured areas with antibiotic ointment, move her to a warm, quiet place and hope that there are no internal injuries. She is probably in shock at the moment . Good luck with her recovery.

About the same. She is drinking water with some sugar in it, eating some crumbles, scratch and bread bits. I cleansed the wound, patted it dry and applied Neosporin ointment. She started 'talking' to me some this morning which was nice. I need to find a larger crate for her as she wants to move around more.

I wonder when she'll be able to go out with the other hens. I was told today that hens can be cannibalistic and may peck on her and try to kill her for her flesh.

Thanks for asking.
