Hello everyone. Since all of the threads about this amazing breed are several years old, I thought a new one was in order.
I wanted to focus on breeders in the U.S. but any and all input from all over is welcome!
So far the only U.S. seller I have been able to find (up to date) is SandHill Preservation. I just placed an order and am expecting them sometime in June.
In the meantime, tell me about your Dumpys (or want of), please share pics, info, breeding strategies, and the like!
Did you ever get your Scots dumpys from Sandhill? I have one rooster, six months old and am looking for hens. I live in North Carolina.... Frasiers Ridge Country, since your a Outlander fan I am sure you know where that is.Still waiting on my Dumpy's. It seems Sandhill is having trouble with that breed this year (of course). There are two orders in front of me. I did tell the poultry manager that I would be perfectly happy with split orders, so we will see. We had a good long chat and I was able to help him with the mystery of why virtually unknown breed has picked up so much this year!
The Author of an amazing book series Diana Gabaldon introduced this breed in the 8th book of her Outlander series. These books were just picked up by Starz this year so there is LOTS of buzz and new readers!
My personal interest is the historical mentions of this breed. Such an old and interesting breed deserves more attention.
Did you ever get more eggs or have contact info for eBay source?Mine seems to have regular legs, so im gonna try to buy more eggs
