Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Yeah, a few days ago I was at TSC and saw that the poor Cornish Rocks were completely bone dry, out of water and there was a decomposing chick! Just broke my heart! So complained to the manager and it went like this.

Me: Excuse me, those poor Cornish Rocks are dying of thirst! And there is a dead chick.
Manager: Oh, uh, I just watered them (uh, really?)
Me: No, I don't think so.
Manager: Well what do you care, they are just birds! (In my book that's an insult)
Me: Well, aren't you going to get them water?
Manager: Go fly a kite.
Me: (Last resort time) Fine, I bet PETA would like to hear about this.
Manager: Fine....

Finally he got them water.

***!?!? What a jerk :(

I think that might be an extreme though because thankfully our store is pretty good and cares about the chicks/thinks they are really cute so that helps.

How could someone be so cruel as to first deny an animal water and then get mad at you and tell you off when you inform him!?

Sounds lazy or like a loser or both. Lazy loser. That does not deserve to be an employee let alone manager....

But also maybe he doesn't know the breed names too and really did just water another breed????

8 weeks ago, I was getting some Cornish cross from the local Theisens, and I usually convince the employees to let me grab my own (especially in the big stock tanks, I'm always terrified they'll trample the babies, and I can catch the chicks I want a lot faster/easier). Well little miss "look at me, I'm holding a chick, I'm such a farm girl" employee told me she could grab them for me, and luckily she grabbed the healthy looking ones (all 10 survived - going to be butchered next week) but she struggled for a solid 10 minutes with the 2'x4' brooder. She picked up one chick towards the end, and had to call over another employee. Claimed the day-old chick needed to be separated, maybe killed, and must've been shipped "defectively" because it had a "tumor". After listening for a minute, I took a look at it (over her shoulder, because I sure as heck didn't trust her judgement) and saw a sleepy Cornish X with a crop full of water. I told her it was fine, and that it was just water. Had to make her poke one of the chicks I was buying before she'd believe me. Sometimes I feel that the employees should have some training of chicks/care if the stores are gonna sell chicks. Especially when people decide they know everything because they work there...

Not chickens but I'll embarrass myself lol

I literally just figured out a quart is a quarter of a gallon and it all makes so much sense now... my mind is blown. Yes I'm dumb LOL

Wow that's ridiculous.....

I agree, they should have some training!

At least our TSC now uses the new organic Purina lol of course just for promotion but still

That's okay. I've had some really embarrassing moments, like when I didn't know chickens could actually pee, not just have it mixed with droppings... Boy was I surprised when one of my hens suddenly felt the urge...
