Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Four words, "Where is it written?", followed by two more, "Prove it", should take care of her demands. Never heard of a 10' rule, NEVER. Nor have I heard the neighbors must like it. There may be some association standards that you have to satisfy, but not a specific neighbor's. Research it, then tell her to sit on it and spin.

ETA - I've seen you've done that. Out - laws or not, don't allow them to speak to you that way. She hasn't got a leg to stand on so let her rant. Remind her it could be worse, you could have some dog killing livestock running the neighborhood. Or, you could play loud rap music/opera next to her house all day. So, she needs to learn to appreciate what she has.

OHHHh that would make me tempted to get some Scottish Dumpies and then play loud bagpipe music to make them feel at home.

I would be VERY tempted!

My husband suggested a large flock of guneas. I think a couple of peacocks on top for good measure. By the way, in the dog killing live stock category, besides donkeys you also have Mustang mares and Belted Galway cattle.

Oh, trust me... you're gonna love this... see end of this post... :D

Not to mention poultry lice don't even live on humans..... Sorry you're having trouble with your neighbors!

Told her that and she disagreed... told me to Google it! :gig

10' in front is pretty common for utilities easement. But be careful if you set your fence back from your line and they start mowing it after a certain time they can claim the land as theirs. Time limits and process varies by state but it's called adverse possession.

Yep, I read the adverse possession law here... that's why we declared and marked the property line first... but here it takes 20 years... she doesn't have that long, lol...

I would just keep on going along with my fence, and tell them they can either lend you a hand building the fence to allow you to be good neighbors, or she can shut up about it.  Sounds to me like she could use a post hole pounder upside her head.

I've been soooo tempted...

You may want to consider asking her to sue you or silence herself.

She has bigger worries, no biggie...

Ravyn....is this the same neighbor that just got evicted?

Not yet...

I did better... I breed and raise Call ducks as well... their nighttime pen is directly outside their bedroom window... my flock has increased the last few months to around 150... :lau

Actually, I don't have to deal with her much longer... our neighbor on opposite side of us is tbe note holder for both of our properties... due to them being perpetually late making payments and not full payments, they are very behind... they got tired of dealing with the lies and BS so they sold their note to someone else... registered letter was due to reach them today from the new note holder for them to pay in full (not possible) the full balance due or cease and desist the property within 28 days...

The new note holder is a great guy, we get along with him and his wife... it's her own cousin! :gig

Karma... :D ;)

Perfect!! :clap

Oh man, you can pick your friends, you can even pick your enemies but you are just freaking STUCK with your family.

We decided that the best way to deal with our families was to put a lot of miles between them and us. Trust me it works.

If push comes to shove I would consider getting a survey done on the property. I did that once with a problem neighbor. Little toad was the neighbor from Hades. I can still remember the surveyor laughing as he finished up and telling me about the guy following him around as he did his job. The end line was, the neighbor's garage, fence and gas meter were over 10 feet on my property. I told him he had two solutions. Start tearing stuff down and moving it or get out his checkbook. He wound up buying 15 feet off my west property line along with closing and surveyor fees. Best money I ever spent.....and got back in triplicate!
