This bird never should have hatched...I have no history on him. Any guesses?

This brute is really a miracle. I live on a remote island and friends of friends came from their home and brought eggs for eating. When they left the island they then gave these eggs to our friends...who in turn gave them to us. This was three weeks later. I was given three eggs. They'd spent three weeks in cold fridges, never were turned, went through airport security xrays, altitude changes etc...But being that all i had were island runt mongerels who are very small and not robust in the least and I had a hen just gone broody, I thought that I had nothing to lose.
This guy hatched. Really a miracle.

He is lovely. The black feathers have a purple tint as well as the green, he is gentle and has a lovely deep crow.
I am not real well versed in a lot of breeds but I'm thinking he might have Brahma in him? He's 20 weeks old what do you think?

The black copper marans had certainly occurred to me but I actually now have those. They are about 16 weeks old now and their feathering on the legs just seem so different. Not as full.
I know it is not really going to make any difference but it's fun to speculate. The egg he came from was a brownish pink. Not real dark though.

Here he is as a hatchling , and his egg...

I agree that rules out a pure BCM. Perhaps he is a BCM mixed breed.

If he had Brahma ancestry, he's have a pea or modified pea comb. He could possibly have Cochin, but the body shape is all wrong. Pure Marans would have white skin and usually lighter leg feathering.

I agree he could be part Marans, mixed with something feather legged, yellow skinned and straight combed. He's beautiful and looks nice and broad across the chest. I'll bet he'd throw nice table birds if that's your inclination.

His leg feathering and overall body structure looks like my black langshans. I'm wondering if he could be that mixed with maran. Could be way off. Just a guess. How tall is he?
