Hey all, I am not new here ( but this is my first post) as this has always been my go to place for questions and I am usually able to find the answer, but I just had to ask experts on this as with spring coming I see many people breaking out the chick video's.... so I just watched a video on raising ducklings, now I have raised many a chick from quails to poults, and it seems I'm either having a bad day as I seem very grumpy with my you tube subs, in this video the fellow is showing his ducklings and he stated they where all fine and comfortable, but if these where mine I would think they are too cold... am I losing my mind? thanks

 
Hmm, I personally would turn on the lights but they seem to be doing alright. If I saw mine like that all the time then I would think they were cool but We don't know the temp and the ducks in the small container seemed quite fine away from the heater for the sick ducky. So the ambient temp might be pretty warm.
 
I remember from when my babies were in their brooder, if you have red heat lamps on, pictures / video come out lousy. My guess is the lights were on before the video and turned back on after it. Especially since he mentioned the heat source even though the lamps were off.
 
I went through and watched all of his videos. He's actually using ceramic infrared bulbs. No light, just heat.

I'm thinking about getting one for mine.
 
I used two ceramic and one light bulb, so I could adjust the temperatures (I had a big brooder for fifteen ducklings). I really like the ceramic bulbs.
 
Hi everyone, i don't want to be a pain but my mini silver apple yard has managed to hatch 11 ducklings. Ive moved mum and ducklings into a large cardboard box lined with straw. i used the bottom of a water feeder and the bottom of a feeder as i thought they were too deep, although it appears that the ducklings are getting into the water anyway. I've never done this before and i don't know what to do,any help would be much appreciated. I'm worried I'm doing it all wrong :/
 
I have one ducking that has hatched. I think it looks fine for day 2 when they can walk better. Sprinkle some food on the hay. Not sure if you use paper towel or not. I am new to this too.

Since she hatched them it's much easier. make sure that nothing is too deep to get trapped in and that they have enough room. She will provide oil so the ducklings will be water proofed and she should teach them how to eat. They are so cute! She is so pretty too.

Mumma duck is as pretty as she's possessive of her babies ! She's not a fan of me at the moment, I just worry I'm doing everything wrong, when dyou think I should take mum away ?
