This is one of my 2.5 week old chicks and he has an odd wing. When he has his left wing folded, the primaries lay over the secondaries instead of being tucked against his body. The feathers lay like this consistently. When I fold his wing "correctly" for him, he flaps and the feathers go back to their strange position.

Has anyone else had this happen and what might cause it? How might it be corrected?

I've noticed that some of my chicks' wing feathers are occasionally positioned wrongly at certain ages and stages of growth. As the feathers grow in more, the wing feathers straighten out and lie down correctly. This may be the case for your chick. If you give it a couple of weeks, the feathers may lay right.

Thanks for the reassurance!

I was just concerned that the wing may not be able to keep his side warm enough when he leaves the brooder.
