Any clue what sex or breed this mystery chicken is?

This chicken appeared in our driveway today and has been hanging around all day. We finally caught it, and boy was it hungry and thirsty! Any idea if this is a rooster or hen? Definitely an adult. It is very big, also any guesses what kind? Apologies if the pictures aren't great, the light isn't ideal right now. I can try again when the sun isn't glaring. We absolutely cannot keep a rooster, but I don't want to set up a separate area to quarantine it if it isn't a hen.

Thanks. I was pretty certain it was a hen, but I have never owned roosters nor a hen this large! She doesn't appear as red in person as she does in this photo...she is more chocolate brown with green sheen at the hackles and in the tail. Is that typical for RIR?

Typical for better quality RIR.

Thanks, all. She is very lovely, and after all your very definitive replies about sex, I guess we will keep her. We live in an urban area, and no one in the neighborhood keeps chickens but us, so I have no idea how to track down her previous owners. Very peculiar!

Any advice on introducing her to our flock after we quarantine her? Previously we have added younger hens 2 at a time with very little fighting. This new one is much bigger than our 4 hens, but she is all alone.
