Looking for Ameraucana Experts

Ok, hoping some of the Ameraucana experts can weigh in. I have a young black Ameraucana that I was under the impression was a purebred and she just started laying but her egg is a light green NOT blue. Does this mean she isn't pure and is really an Easter Egger?


 
If she lays a green egg, then she is not, by definition, an Ameraucana. Ameraucanas must lay blue eggs to be considered purebred.
 
There is no standard regarding egg color in Ameraucanas. And blue is subjective. There is a vast array of color in the Ameraucana egg color chart. Some eggs do look green, but not olive. Personally, I think they look blue green. Put that egg in the grass and then see just how green it looks.

@annav410 I suggest that you google the Ameraucana Breeders Club and check out their pics of black hens and also look into the SOP... Body type, comb type, feather, leg and eye color are the most important points of a true Am... Blue is the desired egg color, but as MrsBachbach stated, egg color is subjective...
I have Am's and EE's... my EE's are not Am's because their color doesn't match and won't breed true, also combs are not pea combs... I cannot see all these parts of your pullet properly to say yea or nay, so I will not say she is or is not...
Either way, she is beautiful and lays gorgeous eggs... hope this helps... :)
 
X4 on Wyandottes7. True Ameraucanas always lay blue eggs. You have an Easter Egger. EEs are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorite chickens. She loves their colored eggs. :eek:)
