Help !!! hatching goose egg !!

I found a goose egg and I don't know what to do right after it hatches... I know that I have to pick out the shell. I asked one of my friends that used to hatch goose eggs and she said to pick the shell out and clean it with a damp rag... Is that correct or is there something I need to do?

I didn't know what to do either. You read so many things. But, I came home from work and the ones I didn't need to help hatched on their own. If they are in the incubator and the humidity is right they wont dry. So after 2 hours I moved them to the brooder so they can get dry on their own. They are doing great by the way. With minimal interference from me. If you only have one and there is no other gosling to be with it. Put a stuffed animal in the brooder with them. They get scared and a stuffed animal is a good companion.
I go visit talk to and pet them (even when they were in the egg I whistled and talked to them).
Also, don't worry if it seems that is taking too long after pip to hatch because they can take from 24-48 hours to hatch on their own. That is normal.
Good luck with it.
