Baby Quail food.....?

I say feed it what ya got now, though I'm pretty sure they can go atleast 24 hours no food after hatching since they're still absorbing yolk. So you could just not give it any food (but water), and rush out for some game bird feed.

I feed Dumor Chick Grower 20% it's for chicks, ducks and quails- it's nonmedicated. I get it at Tractor Supply

We feed our Quails Purina mills 30 % protein Startena. We order it from a feedstore that had purina mills product.
And you can find Dumor starter 24% at the tractor supply store or order it online from them.
Goodluck finding the right food for your Quails.

Protein content is still protien content which ever way you look at it, that i know of they aren't allowed to lie about protein percentages.

Not exactly. There are better and worse sources of protein. Some are easier to digest. Some just have fewer contaminants. However it's the other ingredients I'm more concerned about in the grocery store foods. Those foods are mostly made up of the leftovers after the better parts with the most nutrition are removed. It's a lot of leftover junk that can't be used well and some ingredients like ethoxyquin that have been proven unsafe but they still allow them in pet foods where the animals aren't intended for food. I'd rather not feed my birds who's eggs I might eat something with ingredients that are highly restricted in livestock feeds and not allowed in human feeds because of their questionable safety. Most of those foods also fail to provide any more good quality (useable) protein than your standard chicken feed. They rarely make over 20% protein. Now evo which I just happened to pick up a bag of red meat small bites contains 42% all high quality animal protein. Expensive yes but my 80lb dog can get all the nutrition she needs from 1/4th cup of evo or equivalent foods. Eating 4 or more cups of grocery store brands she was still losing weight. Most people who have fed their animals both will say the same thing. Alot more useable nutrition and protein in there. Sometimes dogs and cats will eat up to 10 times as much of a grocery store or cheaper brand compared to a higher quality brand. Granted some dogs and cats can survive and even stay fat on the cheapest lowest energy food out there but the difference is quite obvious if you ever try it with multiple animals or a "hard keeper".
