Thanks. Around here in the Midwest Bald Eagles are not as common. I did not even see one in the wild until I was in my thirties, because the population had decreased so much due to DDT. And I lived in the suburbs of Chicago where they are still not common. Fortunately, the population has recovered quite well after DDT was banned and conservation efforts were made.
I saw my first in 2009.... on the James River in Richmond, VA (was visiting some relatives), and I was mesmerized! Now I live in S. Oregon and I think we have one of, if not the highest concentration of Baldies in all the States (or possibly the 'continental' States). And still, they are breathtaking, and I do not take it for granted.
