Pullets and adults are together now, wich feed

I just got some pullets. They are separated by a fence right now. I have 8 hens and a rooster on the other side. But they all eat the same feed.

All of my flock eat layer crumbles, and I add some herbs and extras throughout their food or as treats. Oyster shell and recycled egg shell on the side. Everyone lays big eggs.

if that rooster lays big eggs, we need pics!

That's fine if all your birds are laying, but this discussion was about a mixed age flock where only some of the birds are laying.

Excess calcium causes all sorts of kidney and liver issues in young birds - don't feed layer mix to birds until they're of an age to lay. This has been studied thoroughly in the egg industry.

There's evidence either way on whether or not excess calcium causes problems in roosters - but the evidence is very clear with juveniles - their kidneys and liver aren't up to the task.
