I asked the local TSC about special orders and was told that there is a 25 chick minimum. I only want 3.
 
The 25 chick minimum is true of many hatcheries that ship. They consider it necessary so that the chicks can generate enough heat to survive shipping.

While I personally don't get chicks from TSC (I prefer to hatch out my own), it is nice that folks that only want a few chicks have a place to get them. As far as guaranteeing pullets, you will not get that if you select from the strait run bins, those by definition have both pullets and cockerels. And they only sell bantams strait run.
 
I guess the part that bugs me is tsc has pamphlets about ordering through them and I assumed that if I wanted to order say 5 buff orphingtons that they would just include them in their next shipment and I could avoid the whole minimum problem. But really they were just being a middle man and I would rather order from cackle anyway. That being said and it's definitely OT but the two pullets I picked up yesterday from atwoods has the metal clip on the wing should I remove these? If so how?
