Cemani farms in Indonesia

Thread Starter

Just wanted to let all know, I ordered 12 ayam cemani eggs and 12 laughing chicken eggs from cemani farms in Indonesia. I received the eggs as ordered but sad to say that after 12 days in the incubator none of the cemani eggs are fertile and only one of the 12 laughing chicken eggs appears to be dark and living, 6 blew up in the incubator after only 8 days, and the other 5 are not fertile. that was a $620.00 dollar gamble!!! I wouldn't suggest purchasing any from them. There was no feedback on their website about hatch results, just what a nice guy he was and that everyone received their eggs!! If anyone else has ordered from them, please let me know how yours turned out. It was a chance I was willing to take to get pure breed Ayams but a costly one at that!!

Sorry to hear about that.  Those laughing chickens are so cool.  I hope you can find another source for those breeds.

I'm sorry to hear that. :hugs It's always a disappointment when you're incubating eggs and they don't hatch--especially when you paid a fortune for them!

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

whew ...at least I am not the only dummy who ordered. I to ordered  but im got you up by one cuz I ordered 2 dozen .. 12 laughing chicken and 12 cemani ... they were shipped 2 diff days. when cemain arrived 6 were broke and what a mess he did send 6 replacement but just like you ... NO GROWTH ... NO HATCH .... so I will see your 600.00 dollar loss and up it to 1000.00 loss

24 eggs . a million miles and NOTHING !!!

I was at least hoping for 1 laughing chicken to hatch... this way me and that chicken could sit around and laugh about how we just wasted a bunch of money

I wanted to order laughing chickens eggs but you need a import permit, how did you get the eggs delivered? I raise cemani and have hatching eggs for 20ea. I cross the three lines together for pure foundation stock, that way in not breeding brother to sister. I get about 30% culls I sell for laying hens
the cemani layed this winter when it was 20 below O. Seem very hardy herein northern Pennsylvania. I send extra eggs so you can get a good hatch.

My experience on shipped Ayam Cemani eggs:

I've had pretty high success on incubating with my own backyard chicken eggs.., almost 100%. So I was confident enough to buy some Ayam Cemani from Ebay. Long story short, after several hundred $ spent and 21+ days later, I got 20+ rotten eggs and nothing to show for. Nothing hatched. I don't know if the eggs were ship via air or ground as they were from out of state. Anyhow, my personal opinion on eggs ship via air travel (case in point with eggs from Indonesia), the eggs would have gone thru air-travel.  I'm not a rocket or yolk scientist but an egg subject thru air-travel would be at high risk for damage due to compression.

High/low altitude will cause the egg's air-cell to compress and expand, this will have great adverse-affect on something so delicate, throw in the rough handling too and you've got a damage egg. An air trip from Indonesia to the US will likely cause severe damage to the air-cell, nearly eliminating the egg from every developing. Call me a pessimist but those "nice guy" comments on www.cemanifarms.com website don't do squawk on your $500-$1000 investment. Plus, there's not a single feedback on hatch rate. In my opinion, it would be very, very unlikely eggs on commercial flight would ever hatch.

The other factor is rough handling, if you can't get eggs ship from a state over to hatch because the aircells are so whack, there's no way you will get any from overseas.  Shippers toss the packages like any other boxes, they throw them. It's a box.

I would like to try again if there's any worthy sellers that will work with me but most don't. Fork out the cash, save the headache and buy live chicks imo.

Conclusion:

Can't hatch chick from a scrambled egg.

Happy Hatching!

Yes do not order from cemani farms.. they do not hatch and on top of that when fed ex guy got here he had NO IDEA they were eggs. They were NOT MARKED like they show on web site .. as a marter of fact I dont think they are even legal to ship and that would then explain why the packing slip says light bulbs as enclosed item..

if I would of only known .. and that why I want to let everyone know before they waste their money

Darn. I'm dying to have some laughing chickens and was about to go out on a limb and blow my fortune on fertile eggs from Cemani Farm. Glad I decided to research first. Wonder if we'll ever get them in the USA?
