Hi, we are new and really excited for our chicks to arrive. We are starting out with 6 babies. We are all set up and the kiddos have a calendar and have names for all the girls. Stormy, Blu, Rain, Haley, Sky and Pepsi. Can't wait hope the pictures I posted show I have bunny hutch that we are going to use for the brooder and it seems perfect for them. Shelby-BluChicken

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. You have some cute names picked out. My granddaughter names our hens after Disney princesses. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your chicks.
 
Are you getting large fowl chicks or bantams? I don't think that hutch will hold them for long - chicks grow very fast and if crowded tend to fight and pull feathers. Do you have a heat lamp for them? And enough room for a feeder and water?

You (and your kids) have picked out some nice names for the chicks! The rabbit hutch brooder idea seems like it will work well, too, at least until the chicks outgrow it.
