I was at the feed store today looking all the cute fluffy chicks. There was a little fryer that had spraddle legs. It was getting walked on by the others. I felt so bad for it. I was going to take it home and rehab it using methods I have read in here. I had never seen it so I asked the owner about it. He hadn't seen that one but said it was genetic and can't be fixed. He went out and looked at it and still thought it was unfixable. I had my 6 year old with me so he would t let me buy it because it was going to die no matter what. Was he right? I feel like I should have insisted and brought her home. It looked healthy otherwise.

I know how you feel, wish we could help all animals we see that are neglected or ill. But no one can save them all. I think you were wise to listen to your son. How devastating it would be for him at this age to risk getting attached and possibly losing the chick. Better to give him a positive experience.
