The nabor brought over his last 2 chickens from an attack and they were really underweight. One a Rhode Island Red the other is a bantam Cochin.after I got them into a cage I fed them hoping this will make me feel better and the Bantam Cokin is now making gagging her crop completely full I'm thinking it's that but I don't know it's starting to worry me. Anyone HELP
 
Hello and Welcome to BYC! How well were the chickens being fed before you got them? It sound like they are underfed, in which case you need to give them small amounts of feed at a time so they don't gorge themselves. They may have some other issue though. I suggest you post in the ''emergency's/deceases/injury's and cures'' section. Hope those hens get well soon!

Yes they were very underfed. The other chicken is emaciated I can feel bones that I shouldent feel

If your new chickens were underfed, then it is likely that they started gorging as soon as you gave them adequate feed. Chickens that are eating quickly tend to "gag" and develop huge crops, just like your bantam Cochin. However, it is also possible that she has an impacted crop. I would recommend posting in the Emergencies section of the forums: Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures

I hope so too, and I can never turn a blind eye to animals in need. I found a wild turkey that mauled by a dog and I brought it home and healed him up and he's back out free

Glad you could join the flock! How nice of you to take these birds in. I hope you are able to get them some weight on and back to good health soon. I would definatly feed them little and often untill they realise they don't need to gorge on the food. Also have some grit/oyster shell available for them to help them digest the food in their crops. I hope your little cochin has just gorged and not got impacted.

Good job rescuing those birds! You may have to ration the feed so that they don't overeat, until they understand that they they're not going to run out of food.

of course, the little babies are sweethearts but I would never turned a blind eye to an animal that needs my help I hope they just get word on a little Cochin one she wasn't as bad As the Rhode Island Red but they're showing a little bit more energy and it just seems that it was that they gorge themselves which is a lot off my back:)
