Shipped eggs in a Brinsea mini eco?

I had eggs shipped in from Florida to Maine several days ago. I only candled one as I didn't want to handle them a ton, and it had a detached air cell. I let them sit for 24 hours undisturbed on the kitchen counter, then popped them in my Brinsea Mini Eco incubator yesterday. I have read that you are supposed to set them upright in cartons in the incubator, but the brinsea does not have enough room to do that. So I have just laid them down on their sides, but am now debating if I should not turn them for 2-3 days to let the air cells stabilize a bit more? Or does it not really matter since they are on their sides anyway?
And has anyone every tried to candle right through the side of the incubator to see into the egg, that way it is handled less?

You could cut the individual egg cups out of the carton (be sure to cut the hole in the bottom for air circulation) and see if they would sit up in those. It would not be hard to place them around the bator and I don't think they'd be too high.

Oh great idea!! How do I 'turn' them? I figured with laying them down, I could just turn it to each side, but not sure how to turn an egg that is in a cup?

All eggs are up! I figure I can kind of angle them from side to side in each individual cup to turn them.

I am SO thankful you gave me this idea, as I wasn't planning on touching the eggs for another day or two. But when I went to place these eggs in the cartons, I found one of the eggs was gently stuck to the shelf liner in the incubator. I found it had dried, crusty stuff on the shell, which I assume was a seeping/weeping bad egg. It didn't have an odor, but I took it out. I opened it to find it was most definitely a fertilized egg, but there was no other development (since they have only been in the incubator since about 1pm yesterday) But I have read horror stories of eggs exploding, and I don't know if it would have in the next few days before I noticed it or not, but I am sure glad I got it out today! Down to 7 eggs, which is a bummer.

Just curious because I have a mini advance too....how do you plan to turn them, by hand?

I plan to let my eggs sit untouched for another day or two since they were shipped and have detached air cells. Then I will just angle them back and forth inside the individual carton cup 3 times a day. I'm still undecided if I want to let them hatch in the cups, or take them out and lay them on their sides for lockdown.

I like mine laying down for hatch. I've never tried hatching in the cartons.
