I bought some chicks through the mail

Hi everyone. I ordered some chicks today and they're suppose to come tomorrow or the next day. I ordered from Meyer hatchery and got 15 chicks. I hope they will all be ok because it's about 20 some degrees outside. The hatchery is about 4 hours away from my house, so shouldn't they be here by morning?? They got shipped out at 4pm. Have any of u guys had experience ordering through the mail and where they all ok? I'm not so concerned about the trip as I am the cold. I just hope will get here in good shape and have no dead little peepers :jumpy
 
I have ordered from Meyer this January and they all made it. I had a problem with last years orders. You may get them on Wednesday. I am four hours away also and it always takes two days.
I ordered twice from ideal. The first shipment I lost six so they sent replacements and they all survived. The second order was a total loss and the replacements were a total loss also. I asked for a refund.
The McMurray order was half loss and they sent replacements and they were a half loss but I didn't ask for refund because two halves made a whole order.
The mt healthy order was very large and I lost about six the first day. Another six the next few days.
Cackle order arrives this week and with my ideal refund I made another cackle order for the end of the month.
It is pretty much hit or miss on weather conditions and usps delivery. Some very cold days lots if survivors other cold days lots of loss.

Thanks I really wish they would get here tomorrow though :( but thanks for the info
 
Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Good luck with your chicks, hope they all arrive safely. As mentioned, it is chancy in this weather how the chicks do, I had one shipment from Ideal last month and they were fine... I have gotten chicks from Meyers before and they did arrive the next morning (am also in Ohio).

That's stressful! I am in central KY and drove about 1.5 hrs to get mine, the idea of shipping is scary for me- but it's one of the only ways to really get exactly what you want. Good luck-sending warm positive vibes to your little kids on the way!

I'm in Michigan 4 hours from the hatchery
