Well, It's Official. We're Now In a Depression - Page 7

Buy stocks now you will make money!! Don't let emotions scare you crazy!! if you have no debt, don't worry!! If you have some debt and live within your means don't worry. If you live off of credit and live outside your means, then a lifestyle change is coming!! And coming soon!!  Now finally people are going to have to lend $ to folks they should have been doing in the 1st place.  The market is the only place i have ever made money!! Banks don't pay enough to use your money!! Think about it!!  Why put $ where you can only earn about 3.2% if you are lucky in a year's time when you can make that in a day in the markets if you do your research. Don't rely on people to manage your money!! You have to be responsible and do that yourself. The days of relying on the "good faith" of others is unfortuanately gone!!  Capitalism with thrive as long as we don't vote for socailistic policies like they just passed!! Just my humble opinion.

Spot ON...I cringe when I think about our farming and industries.  We used to get PINEAPPLE from Hawaii....but DOLE closed up because of OUTSOURCING....Chile imports it now.  It has completely affected our economy negatively!!

WHY in the heck are we buying PEACHES AND PINEAPPLES from Chile??

BUY LOCAL Folks....that is the way to boost our national economy!!!!!!!

Guess pineapple don't grow here, but peaches.
The only thing is that they are harvested totally unripe,  they are dry, taste like carboard. There is so much wrong  in our economy - and I am not surprised that it is going down the drain. POLITICIANS NEED TO GET SOME COMMON SENSE AND/OR EDUACATION!!!! America ranks in subject education worldwide on place 29 - although it has the best Universities in the world. But, education here is only affordable for rich people or those who work themselfes to death for their children. I wish, there would be labels in clothing and other things "MADE IN USA" ... tHAT'S WHAT WE NEED TO BOOST OUR ECONOMY

I started to plant peach, cherrie, pear, apple, stanley prunes, currants, grapes, all veggies, potatoes and corn. Guess I need a cow to have milk and butter for not to waste gasoline to go to the next grocery store which is 5 miles away. Hardly any public transportation in this area ... and this is bringing up the next question: How in the world should families be able to commute every day 30 and more miles, but just making a little over minimum wage .... Guess they are sucking their thumbs instead of getting something to eat.

DAMNED I AM SO UPSET

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Just wonderful! Thank you for the post! We've recently been studying this in one of our classes..

Sorry, I guess I just didn't put the emphasis on "here" meaning your home state vs US.

I'm actually downsizing my goat herd but planning bigger and more coops and there's always the possibility of ordering chicks! That is if I stop hatching long enough to order! HA!

It is terrifying thinking about what could happen. All it makes me want to do is become self reliant. Problem is you could still lose everything in the meantime.

4 RIR/Sex-Link hens. Chicks are coming in mid August 2010 and plans are in the making for a new coop!

Well i work BEAJEGER therefore i make money to invest!! I know it sounds crazy, but i started planning for retiring and saving when i turned 18 and could start contributing to IRA's. I am now 33 and work full time and have saved over the last  16 years. I don't invest in mutual funds b/c they don't appreciate fast enough. Buy good small cap stocks. They can give you good returns. My mother taught me everything i know. Can i get a shout out for all you MOMS out there!!! IF it were not for smart MOMS there would be a lot of stupid men!!! LOL

What I'm going to write it not doom and gloom.  It's just the facts folks.

Government intervention is making the DEPRESSION that has already begun even worse.  The "Bail out" was the worst thing Congress and the president could have done.

FDR and the New Deal did not get us out of the depression,  WWII gave Americans jobs and that got us out of the depression.

Raise taxes as BO plans to do and unemployment will skyrocket.

Car sales in AZ are down over 40%.  The only ones that are selling well are hybrids.

Oil is now below $78 a barrel.  That translates to gas at $2.75 a gallon.  Do you think we'll ever see that again?  Dream on.

GM stocks are the lowest they have been in 58 years.  The US auto market is on the verge of a total collapse.

I am grateful we have savings, but with banks failing, my wife has begun to make withdrawals and we are purchasing Tbills... hoping that our government doesn't go belly up even though we are TRILLIONS in debt and China and Japan own us.

Thank goodness there are enough folks out there that think they can bargain hunt. Looks like the Dow will end in positive territory today.

Keeper of 26 hens,  4 PW Leghorns, 1 leghorn mix, 1 FBCMarans, 1 Australorp, 1 Buff Orpington, 2 Mama Olive Eggers w/ 15 chicks each, 1 EE, a Barred Rock, a RIR, a CQ, 1 Delaware, 1 Black Star, a Splash Ameraucana, 3 W/BW Ameraucana pullets, 5 polish, 2 Welsummers and 41 juvies of various breeds. YIKES!  Time to SELL some chickens!
