The chicks are sleeping all over the brooder box not just under the lamp. It is about 88-90 degrees in the box. Is that normal for them to sleep all over or is it too hot?

Is all the area in the brooder that temperature? They need a warm part and a cool part. If the whole thing is one temperature they will sleep all over not just under the warm area. Hope this makes sense.

Yes that makes sense. I'm pretty sure the whole brooder is that temperature. I have the theometer set up in the middle of the box on the side.Maybe I need to get a bigger box?

Is there any way you could put the heat source just on one end? That will give you the warm side cooler side for them. Also put their food and water in the cool side.

This is how it is set up now (they aren't sleeping in the food they are eating) I'm thinking I might need a bigger box

Yea looks like they are too hot, IMHO I do not like those plastic tubs as they get way to hot to easily. If you cannot build a brooder from wood, the next best thing would be cardboard boxes. They will be too big for that setup in about two weeks. I hope this helps!
