Dutch bantams are very sweet birds. Tiny and talkative and happy to be carried around. Belgian Bearded D'uccles are very similar if you like feathered feet and beards they are hard to resist. I have a few porcelains and a Mille Fleur which are both very pretty. My last 3 batches of chickens have all been bantam breeds. I like them just as much as the large versions plus I can have more varieties while being easier to feed. So have 2 small eggs instead of 1 big one. They seem to be friendlier. I call them Poor Mans Parrots.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. My favorite chickens are Black Sex Links (Black Stars). Technically they are hybrids and not an actual breed, but they are hardy and friendly, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year.
