The Durvet Strike lll will work as long as she eats it over the course of several days. Just follow the directions on the label.

The directions on the label are horribly vague, unless I'm just missing something. It reads to mix 1lb (1 bag) with 50 lbs of feed, or 9 grams will medicate 1lb of complete feed. I'm just curious as to how many birds this is supposed to treat? It doesn't even say for how many days to treat. I think I saw on a different post that you mentioned it was the same as Rooster Booster Wormer, so maybe I'll check them out to see if they have any better instructions.

Mix one- 1/3 ounce scoop of wormer per one pound of feed. Feed for 5 days and as needed. There's a 3 day slaughter withdrawal, no egg withdrawal period.

Kathy, after reading this thread.....Maybe that is what causing most of flock to pull out their feathers.... esp Baby Girl had the peeling skin esp her thighs etc a while back  ......and diaherre for her again. she has lost weight and her comb is small again.    She doesnt run any more unless I try to pick her up. She hangs back....... it has been so wet here..... and I saw her drink some puddled water again recently. Heck I gave her some from an old ladle that was hung on an object....DANG it last year that was outside.. Heck I was so mad at myself cause I dont know how long that water was in that old ladle...RUH.... We change their water everyday... Water in their runs, out in their truck toppers and even their coops... been giving them rainwater  Hubby boils it .. but what is the safe way to boil water? then a while back Baby Girl had the explosive diherea with undigested food...

.Hubby gave BABY GIRL only a dose of VALBAZEN  3 nites ago.... not the rest of them.....

I like for it to come and maintain a fierce boil for a few minutes...

There are so many dang wild birds around again......They are even going into their coop to steal food... even through a plastic curtain....The chickens hardly ever chase off the wild birds.... Im going to sew a fiberglass screen curtain for their topper..where most feed is kept in gobs of  1 qt. measuring cups, and jars as well as a treadle feeder. Like I mention on this forum they roam 1/2 acre fenced in.. And they constantly digging in the mulch we have to put down everywhere   where its so muddy...esp from the golf carts we drive around this) down hill close to creek bottom )property.

so how can I get the poo checked for this Giardiasis?.  It seems so complicated

so much dander they have off and on. sometimes I think they are itching and pecking themselves so much....I find chewed feathers everyday.....Like i mentioned about the blankety blank vets here....

and GOLDIE has a lot of black poo lately.....

I asked before  on this forum over and over..  but not much was said about all the skin flakes on the roosts and poo trays. Hubby says lots of skin flakes still on the black poo trays...dry skin also on ther faces off and on.

This whole thing is so overwhelming  trying to help esp Baby Girl....

OH... GAIL DAMErow  new HEALTH   book said "ROOSTER BOOSTER TRIPLE wormer" has an antiobitic in it.....which I have but not even opened the plastic jar.....

thanks all

I can't really give advice on the problems you may be having, but I can answer the question about having their poop checked for Giardia. I had taken one of my hen's poop samples in to the vet to have it tested for parasites in general. They tested it the same way as if they were testing my dogs. They run the first test there at the vet clinic and then then they send the sample on to one of our labs here to test for the Giardia. I think it was about $45 to have it tested. I noticed that not all places will test for Giardia. I think because they have to usually send it offsite for another lab to test, so that would be something that I would specifically ask if they do. After she tested positive for the Giardia, they gave me Panacur to treat her and then I just treated the other 4 girls as well. I know you can also use Safeguard. I have seen both Safeguard and Panacur at our local farm & feed store. Both of those will also clear up most any other worms they may have, as well. Hope you flock gets better!
