Egg Selling suggestions

I am about to embark on my first "egg selling adventure"! I'm in New Hampshire and am attempting to get an idea of what people charge for French Black Copper Maran eggs? "regular white farm eggs are being sold for around $3.50 a dozen. I think the Marans should sell for more.... (And open to creative ideas regarding packaging not involving egg cartons... recycled newspaper baskets????)

In my opinion. If your selling the eggs for eating I would not sell an egg for more $ just because it's darker than others. Maybe charge a little more for a multi colored dozen. But to me an egg is an egg when I go to eat it. Now hatching eggs are much different.
 
I imagine selling eggs is like selling chickens- both are like selling art. Decide what they're worth to you and what they should be worth to your intended audience (i.e. the kind of people you want to do business with). Stand behind your quality- if the birds are worth it, they're worth it. And if your'e worth your salt as a breeder and chicken keeper, the eggs are worth it.
I do this when selling chickens, and I will do this with selling chicks for the first time this year. My birds are good birds. They're not items to be haggled down. The kinds of people that don't want to pay for a good chicken will not be good chicken keepers!

Oh, selling to eat or hatch? I assumed hatching. I personally would sell the maran eggs for more. My marans were expensive chicks!!! And even I cherish those dark eggs. People will appreciate it for the commodity it is, and if they want to buy a few they will. How you raise your birds is also a price factor. Free-range, cage-free, non-gmo, non-medicated, and organic-fed birds produce eggs of a higher market value. Pastured organic eggs at the store run $7.50/do!
 
I was talking about selling the eggs. My hens are free range, cage free, "nutrition enhanced" (flax seed, organic greens, marine algae....). They are spoiled! LOL! The Marans also tend to produce jumbo sized eggs.
