How many chicks did you end up with?
I hope I have a better hatch than I did last time. Actually I was pretty pleased with the chicks I got, but there were 6 eggs that didn't hatch. I didn't do an eggtopsy on them. This is such a learning experience. I did a dry incubation which meant that my humidity was 40-45%. I didn't have to add any water. So far, so good. The temp was very consistent at 100º. Now I'm into the hatch and kept the humidity between 60 and 75%. Then the chicks started to hatch and the humidity went to 80%. I hope I didn't drown them. Keeping the humidity at a good level is my greatest challenge. This time I washed the eggs. We have a gentleman that works for Tractor Supply that knows a lot about hatching chickens. He said not to wash the eggs and to buff them with some sort of paper to get the chunky stuff off of them. Different folks, different strokes. I don't know. I appreciate all of you out there who have track records to support your points. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
