Breed... Asians?

Since they are a hybrid the name of 'Asian blue" may be more about marketing than any real breed description. Selling something as "Asian" sure sounds more interesting and unique than "American" for those wanting something different.

All I've discovered is that they are a very new hybrid. So new that there is not a lot of info about them. Supposedly dual purpose birds but the weights seem a little low for that.

Do you happen to know what breeds were used to obtain the hybrid? I bought several of these chicks and wish I knew more about them. All I can find is that they should be attractive, with blue/green iridescent colors over red/black feather pattern, layers will produce plenty of brown eggs, and roosters reach 4-4.5 pounds within about 12 weeks. A couple of my chicks look like roosters and one is already developing a cocky attitude (3 weeks old). Interested to hear how everyone's Asian Blue chicks are turning out.

Wanted to update the thread to show how these look now. Anyone have any ideas or changes on what they are now that they've grown a bit? :p They're very pretty chickens and have a LOT of personality.

My husband found Tractor Supply selling the same "Black Asians" again this spring.  I think I'll find some in a box when I get home...

I found this link and wonder if this is it:  https://www.purelypoultry.com/asian-black-chickens-p-1288.html

We only have one of them left. One looked very much like a black austral orphan. We found him a home with someone that wanted to breed off of him. I'll post a picture of the other one later if I can remember. :p Not sure what he is, but he's pretty big and colorful. He's also the most docile rooster I've ever seen. He's super friendlyrics and he looks after his girls... almost in a gentlemanly fashion sometimes... only bad thing is he has an ugly crow. Lol.

Oh dear! Hope I don't get a rooster. We're in the suburbs and ended up with two roosters last year that I had to find homes for! Hoping for a nice (quiet) hen! Looking forward to any new pics you post. And yes, they are already at my house in a cardboard box.
