Wow thank you all for your advice. Its nice to join such a friendly and helpful group. Does anyone know if the buff orpingtons and the black austalorps would get along?

Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps are both calm and gentle breeds that will get along fine if they are approximately the same age and size and are not overcrowded. I've raised both breeds for years (still have both in my flock) and they get along with each other just fine. My children and granddaughter have made lap pets of both breeds as well.
