Saved some ducks, have a few questions.

We just got back from the vet. Things took a turn for the worse suddenly this afternoon and we rushed him in. We all decided that letting him go would be the best thing to do. I'm heartbroken, his sibling is a mess, and my daughter is trying to cuddle him to calm her and him down. I wasn't prepared for this after his improvement.
I'm very sorry.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss :hugs. I don't think anyone was prepared for such a thing. He was fortunate to have had someone like you looking after him. I hope his sibling can cope.

I'm so sorry.

Thank you guys for all your support through this. I guess even with the best intentions things don't always work out.

The other guy will go to his home in a couple of weeks, until then he'll just be spoiled with attention.

Oh darling I'm so sorry. I had a feeling reading through that it might come to this. I've dealt with this kind of neck ataxia before in bird rescue and even if they improve they cant ever keep their balance. You have done a wonderful job and learned a lot for the future, good on you

I think your wonderful for all you have done for this lil duck you took them in and cared for him and lost sleep caring for him. It's very sad and heart breaking when it doesn't turn out the way we wanted it too, But you did the right thing in not letting him go on till he was suffering needlessly. Those decision don't come easy.
Please keep us updated on this one and her new home. Glad to hear she likes the stuffed bunny and it has calmed her.
Bless you all.

Just wanted to let you all know that Duke is doing great. She's really starting to sound like a duck, and now I'm fairly certain Duke really is a she.

She's no longer crying for her sibling, instead she now cries for my daughter. She follows her around, cuddles in her lap, and will play "chase" in the yard. Eating, drinking well, loves playing in the pool, and is enjoying all the attention she's getting. :)

That is such a sweet update. So how in the world are you going to separate those 2?
