Hi all! I'm brand new to incubating and DH and I decided to dive in head first (maybe not the smartest idea) and build an incubator from scratch and start with an expensive rare breed

. Well, the bator is together but I can not for the life of me get rid of one GIANT hot spot! The portion of the egg carton nearest the exterior wall holds right around 99-100 but the egg cells closest to the interior wall fluctuate between 102 and 104!!! Eeeek! Please help me! Ive tried increasing and decreasing air flow and also adding a thin layer of reflective insulation on the interior wall. Please help! I don't know how to fix it. And we are driving several hours this weekend to pick up the eggs!

Maybe moving the left bulb down further would help? Or finding a way to squeeze in some more insulation on the interior wall? Hmmm.... I'm stumped.

My thought being that if your fan is blowing into the bulbs, the fan is just drawing the air directly from the hole at the other end, pulling the warm air straight across the close wall without circulating it into the egg area.

I would try having a fan blowing vertically. This will break up any thermal layers, by forcing air along the ceiling, and down the walls.

Thanks for the input! The fan is currently blowing across the bulbs. I will try to reverse it and see if that helps. Not sure how I could set it up to blow vertically...

I think I have solved the problem. Tried turning the fan which didn't help but DH had a good idea. The exterior wall was holding steady so why not just avoid the hotspot all together? Egg turner has been moved 90 degrees so it's running the long way against the exterior wall. Perfect temps +/-.5 degrees! :) now on to check humidity. Thanks again guys!
