Convenient ways to feed 30+ chickens

I'm looking for some ideas on how to feed over 30 chickens at once. I've seen several ideas using PVC, but seems like a guy would have to buy quit a bit of PVC and PVC 90's and have to refill several spots. Perhaps I'm over thinking this, but I was hoping to find a design that allowed a person to fill the feeder in 1 or 2 locations, perhaps every few days, sheltered so that the birds couldn't perch and poop in it etc... You know, I'm looking for the perfect feeder!

You could get a wall mount metal feeder that holds about 20 pounds of feed. It has a slanted lid so they can't roost on it and 2 side compartments you can fill with oyster shell for them.
 
Premier1supplies.com has feeders in all sizes, and they are great to work with. I have about 35 birds, and use three 11 lb. metal feeders, because they are easy to handle. Bigger feeders would be better if you wanted to fill them less often. Mary
 
However done, I suggest you make so no feed is left in feeder overnight. Feed after dark will attract visitors you do not want. Rodents for certain but also raccoons and opossums.
 

The magazine part is 4'L x10.5"H holds 50# feed So how long it lasts depends on how many birds you have. Of course you can scale it up.

I'm pretty sure that's a very nice home-built feeder. X2 on making sure you either have no feed left at the end of the day or have a way to totally block access to it. Otherwise, it might take a few months, but you'll have rodent population you wouldn't believe the size of and your feed bill will go up considerably. Not to mention the diseases rodents can carry.

I'm hearing you on the rodents. They're on the for front of my mind. I'm confident I can make that feeder rodent proof. I'm thinking of making it out of tin Worth a couple special features. :)

Build your gravity-fed feeder with 3 5-gallon buckets stacking on each other, then hang it. It prevent mice problem, and could hold around 75 lbs of feed.
