Hi all,

Noticed about 5 days ago one of my hens was not as active and chatty as normal. So took her to the vet she thought maybe a blockage, she checked her over no smell from mouth area. So she gave baytril and said just to keep an eye on her. Well after 4 days of it she is still no better. Still has the swollen area under her vent about the size of a tennis ball. Still eating but not as much as she normally does, and very quiet. Her droppings are green/white.

Is there anyone that can help? That maybe has had the same issue?? Please this hen means so much to me :(

Thanks in advance

Sarah

She could be egg bound. Also, I could be wrong, but I believe the tennis ball lump can be a sign of fatty liver disease.

How old is she? Are her poops runny at all?

Is her crop rock hard? Is it spongy and squishy? How does her abdomen feel?

Is she hunched and puffed up? Eye closing?

Any discharge from eyes or nostrils? Any wheezing, coughing, sneezing?

When was the last time you wormed your flock?

Do you have any Corid on hand?

Vet checked for egg nothing there, unsure of age as she was dumped in my field. Nothin different about her eyes, beak or any wheezing. Not long wormed, poop is green and white quite runny. Crop is moving along as it should so deffo no blockages there.:/
