I have 24 3 week old chicks pecking each other and I can't figure out why they just started doing it today and the brooder was about 85 inside it and it has a lot of room what else could I be doing wrong or what can I do to prevent this?

They need lots of room or they get on each others' nerves. Do they have room to get away from 85* to like 70*. you could probably lower the temp to 80* if they are a full 3 weeks. What size is your brooder?
Welcome to our flock!

I'm not sure on the size I ordered the chucks from cackle hatchery and I also bought the brooder from there they said it would be big enough for my chicks and I the day the lamp gets turned off because it gets warm inside the building but at night it still gets down to around 32 I'll try raising the heat lamp or maybe unplugging it at night to see how they get along maybe I could move them to my coop where they could get some sun light from the window and door I'm just afraid of them getting to cold

just raise the heat up a little bit, that will lower the temp in the brooder. I wouldn't take it completely off of them quite yet. Sounds like some of us in the middle of the heat of the summer, just get a bit crabby, ya know?

I had my 25, 3 week old chicks in a space that was a little bigger than 4ft x 4ft and they were drawing blood on each other and ate each others tails and wing feathers. I moved them into a 10ft x 10ft stall and they are 4 weeks old now and there is only a few pecks here and there now. I fear that this stall will only be big enough for a few more weeks. Working on a bigger coop now. What are the measurements of your space?

but that's 100 sq ft in that stall. Something to think about to, is the bigger the space, in reality, the less 'per bird average' you really need. Because, there's that much room for them to move around in, and odds are they're going to group together anyway.

It's always "hey, what did you just pick up? that's MINE and I WANT IT NOW" and then the game of keep away starts.....
