HEADS UP AVIAN INFLUENZA ALERT

I read an article on FB earlier that stated they found positive cases in NINE other nearby farms, affecting an estimated 200,000 turkeys. We have gotten a late start to migration in the east...I'm hoping this doesn't continue to spread so quickly!


ETA: Sorry, meant to quote the previous post....my comment was referring to farms in the immediate vicinity of the first farm in Indiana

Just received some news from a contact who has some direct involvement with the Indiana DNR. Turns out that they have a good chance of getting this under control, the elimination efforts are going well. So far, they have not found any trace of this virus in chickens. Only turkeys. They are in the process of testing wild birds to see if they are carriers, no info regarding that yet.
