It is in the Hatching Eggs 101 by @Sally SunshineIt's amazing how quickly birds can decimate a compost pile. Mine was about 5' tall and 5'X8' The turkeys found it first followed, of course, by the chickens. They spread it flat, turned it, tilled it, and added more fertilizer... So I opened the area to the hogs so they could deep till it. Gonna plan corn and sunflowers there in the spring.
Does anyone remember who wrote the article on how to save eggs longer than 14 days to hatch? I need to hatch more hollands, but will need to save eggs longer...
It is under the storing hatching eggs section. As I recall she stores them pointy side up in and egg carton that is place in a plastic bag. There is no turning of the eggs and I believe that she stores them in a cooler.
I have stored turkey eggs big side up in egg cartons with one end of the carton tilted up and alternating ends 3 times daily in a cool basement for up to 21 days and have not noticed a big drop in hatchability.
Good luck.
