A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Silly birds! They are entertaining to say the least.
Yes.... next Monday my best girl stilts the Phantom gets a week long trip to the county fair. I let my daughter talk me into letting her show a turkey, 3 pullets and 2 young roosters.... I took the whole week off to keep an eye on my babies, the birds, the kids will be fine... lol

I have a hen who is a nest thief. Somehow she ran around the barnyard and collected a bunch of eggs, and carried them to her special in the bushes nest. Found her sitting on 14, when there were none the day before. Silly birds.
Yeah I decided to put a stop to the musical nests and gave one of my broody chickens a crate so no one can steal her eggs, the other wanna be broody in that coop is a nest theif but not as steady about sitting.
Next big move will be to move darling to another place so that the bronze snake can't push her off the nest. At first I thought they were co.brooding, now I am not so sure. Darling will let me check the eggs and move her around the bronze snake offered to remove my fingers..... sigh silly birds.

Alicia...you've got your hands full managing the snakes! Good luck at the fair!

I can't imagine Daisy at a fair. Can you just see the fair officials when she shows up with her personal fan and specially designed nest box. Although she would enjoy the kids.

Just saw a news story about Instagram stars. Dogs. And one raccoon. All have millions of followers each. One of us needs to do this with a turkey! I wish I had time. I think a turkey Instagram star would be cool!!! I didn't see anything special about these dogs. But a turkey...now that would be interesting!

Amazing how they do this.
I have a hen (chicken) I put in a cage to serve her broody time. She started with 4 eggs.

She is down to one. I have a cat liter box set up for her to nest in private. She does not like the nest during the day, (maybe it is too hot) She carries her eggs (or did) outside the nest to sit during the day and then back into the nest at night...

I assume this is why she is down to one egg left.

Well, folks, I'm really mad at my Toms... Too many clear eggs... it appears that only the nari tom did his job. I'll give the black a bye as it's his first time but the BR and RP, no excuse... They get paid for a job and if not doing it, well either sold or freezer camp!

has it been hotter than normal? the heat and sperm do not get along

How do you have them separated? Is it possible they're not letting each other finish? Haha I use a decoy for first year toms to practice on. I believe it helps. That and just looks absolutely hilarious. They always want to fight it first lol but then try mate it.
