A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ok, but you would consider the hens in the picture to be black?
I can't see their wings extended to tell whether or not they are barred. If the main flight feathers are barred then they are Bb rather than BB which a true black would be.

This time of year is not the best time to be checking on feather color since a summer of sunshine will have the feathers bleached out to a certain degree. After they molt, the feather color will be at its truest color.

Ok, thanks!

Esther looked up the fall fire and stated, " we don't have those. We should hatch some of those!" In response to your comment on possible breeding outcomes. I'm not sure if I am sold yet, I think I want to expand numbers of each variety first before making new ones.
I think the Fall Fire variety is stunning, Bantam. You totally should go for it!

A day off work! Planning on spending it with the turkeys gardening. They get worn out trying to follow me around. Daisy has it all worked out. She sits on the back steps in the shade and keeps an eye on me. The poults stumble around behind me. They wear their little selves out.

When I was taking care of the poultry this morning, two of the one month old Sweetgrass poults were having an all out battle with the Tri-Color Mottled Slate trying to join in. I could have said they were having a snood pulling contest but their snoods aren't big enough to pull. Sorry I did not have a camera with me.

Look who came back.
