A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I put pictures on there of the kill site and the tracks of my critter(s).

You might just want to look to scare yourself knowing people live and flourish in conditions like the pictures show... BTW warmed up to 15 below now!
Just guessing but the tracks leading up to the kill site look like they are the rooster's track. In that type of snow rooster's leave an indistinct and wandering track that looks very similar to those tracks. Based on the neck wounds and the wing marks in the snow, my guess is that an owl was the predator.

There is a definite "pad" in the tracks not like the roosters . I am leaning towards 2 predators an owl that made the kill and a mink that stumbled on it.. If the snow had been less powdery I think I could have gotten a better more distinct picture of the pad.

There is not many places to get pictures, as most the snow is packed down by the turkeys.

I agree the wing marks look like an owl taking flight. I also think the kill happened when I was outside. An owl would kill so fast and quietly I would not have heard a thing. With my poor hearing I heard even less.

I could see a definite mammal track in one pic. It looks like the kill site of my turkey hen. Except for there was blood splattered everywhere and her head was missing but I saw the owls tracks.

Went & looked at the kill site. Saw the foot prints. How big are they, looked larger than a mink foot.

You saw owl tracks on your turkey hens kill site?

Did you see the wing marks in the snow on mine? They sure look like an owl to me, A pretty good size one.

A mink walks with little funny jumps like. The feet are always close to each other. The pads are maybe an inch wide but it is hard to see in the powder.

Holm showed excellent pictures of a mink trail on hard pack.

I saw Holmes mink track shot. Saw the wing print. Any chance of following the tracks. Not sure it that's possible without freezing to death, but maybe it leads to a den or something.

No way to follow at all. it comes from a hard packed snow plowed area. And I am not going to circle my property on the off chance it came in from the swamp. even if I find it nothing good would come of it. The mink could very well live under a pile of wood or equipment I have parked in my farmyard.

Besides it is too (darn) but not really meaning darn, cold to go out for that!

I took those pics off the internet.

Ralph they owl walked around the breeder pen I had and somehow figured out how to get in. No wing tracks on my kill site.

What did kevin say!!
