I talked to Coffee a few times tonight.
She is having young hen problems, one of hers left 14 eggs ( I think I got the number right) and started a new nest. Which had 4 in it.
She said all but one of the 14 had blood vessel in it. So it sat at least 14 days before quitting. Young hens are such pains! The other hen she says has not been off the nest to even eat or drink since the 16th, I assured her it would not starve or die of thirst. She said she could not see how many eggs it was sitting on because it flattened out on the nest. I told her that was playing pancake and a sure sign she was broody. Somewhere around the 14th Coffee could increase her flock.!!
She is a little afraid of Porter, because when she enters the coop he stands between the girls and her and puffs up and stamps the ground. I told Coffee that is just him keeping his girls away from Coffee. Porter thinks Coffee is a male that needs to be driven off.
All in all, it was interesting and fun to listen to her tell about her turkeys. She gets so excited about them, I love hearing that in her voice...
She says she has not been able to get on much, hopefully she can soon.
