Where is the over $10K, $20K or $50K options? LOL...

I have no idea how much my 'coop' cost as it's a vintage turn of the century style poultry house that has been remodeled, added on to and re-purposed for other uses over the last several decades... At 1800 sqft with today's building cost in my area it would easily exceed $50K, probably close to $100K to replace as constructed...

But, I only have maybe $500 invested into it out of pocket...
Ha ha ha! Are you crazy? 10-50 grand? LOL I wish!

1800 Sq. Ft. thats a dream coop/run for me. Do you live in a large ranch? Ill just move in to yours lol

How much did it cost to build your coop and/or run? Just wondering?

I'm reviving the q, since chicken math affected my brain. I might build 2nd coop mansion after ordering more chicks for spring. Cost might bring back my sanity

I paid my neighbor (who does construction) to do most of the building from the design I made. Total custom build off my specs. I helped by carrying the heavy stuff!

We used 1" pine siding (batten & board)
Metal roofing
1650 cfm exhaust fan
1.5 tons of gravel
1 ton of sweet pdz
Ador1 automatic door
electrical to the coop
Wemo Insight (wifi plug that can control the exhaust fan from my phone or by timer)
small refrigerator for eggs/adult beverages
coop shelving for supplies
Heated 1 gallon dog bowl for winter watering
1/2" hardware cloth for the entire run & run skirt (and inside the coop)
5 gallons thompsons water seal (and still not done...the wood is just sucking up the seal)
and cameras to watch the girls

It's WAY overbuilt...but it's incredibly easy to clean/maintain and I can travel without worrying about the safety of the girls.

You can see the shelves in this pic and can also see a few of the girls roosting in the windows to the right. Next sunny day I've got to take more pics and will post a coop write-up on here. Total build time was about six months, but we had to start at the hottest part of the summer which really slowed things down. Well worth the time though now that it's done!

Here's the coop me and my Brother-in-Law are working on to house 24 hens. We're not done yet but it's further along than in the pictures. It's 8'X8'X7'H and will have an 8'X20'X8'H run fenced in with 1/2" hardware cloth. The whole thing will cost a little over $1k not counting the tools I bought to speed things up - they'll probably cost me twice what the coop cost. Oh well, we're having an awful lot of fun building it and learning a lot along the way. We're already planning our second coop and run for the broilers.
