In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am a new chicken farmer as my time with Uncle Sam draws to a close and we want to settle down. I built the coop over the winter and got some pullets a month ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 3 hens and one roo (but he has to go this weekend)
(3) What breeds do you have? RIR, French copper Maran, sexlink
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? came across it on the net
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Harley traveling
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are new to the northwest as the Army has moved us around many years. We have an older cat "Luni" who kinda pays the chickens no mind. I have found out the hard way about starting a flock and keeping them healthy. I purchased the first 3 birds at an auction and that was my first mistake. Bird number one succumbed to Marek's after a couple of weeks. Bird number two turned out suffering from Mareks, but hanging in there. Bird number three is no longer a hen but a Roo. Lessons learned and 2 new pullets purchased. Time will tell.
