What is a good way to control flies in the chicken coop? I live in Florida and they r already bad. My chickens don't try to eat them and I want to thin the fly numbers down.

I use fly predators. They are tiny insects that search out and destroy flies. There are several companies out there that sell them.

They ship them to you in a sealed package just before they're ready to hatch. Once you see a few crawling around you sprinkle them around areas where flies have likely laid their eggs- moist piles of compost, leaves, shavings, manure. You wouldn't sprinkle them directly in the coop because the chickens might eat them.

We have chickens and horses which promote a lot of flies. But the fly predators keep them down.

I've gone to the hardware store and grabbed some hanging fly traps, they usually fill up within a week or two but keep the numbers down. unfortunately if you google search the best way to get rid of flies, getting chickens is at the top of the list. The traps do let off a foul odor at first but that goes away within a few days.

We're planting Venus Fly traps and some of the trumpet type carnivorous plants out near our coop. I figure it'd be neat to have something that actually eats the flies. Since you're in Florida I'd bet some carnivorous plants would grow well.
