One of my chicks is a few days old (just got her two days ago). She started walking with her legs spread out a yesterday and seems very wide (chubby), which I didn't exactly notice the first day. We just found her Laying belly up under the heat lamp and we flipped her over. She is now waddling around and not as active as the others. Any ideas??! Thank you for any help! I am so worried!

Have you looked up splay/spraddle legs. I would give that a go I know there is some really good info on it. You just make a hobble for them, out of band aides I think. Good luck it seems to be a pretty simple fix but It's when you think it's easy it usually gets hard. Let us know how it turns out!

Thank you! I tried a hobble yesterday with a band-aid and she couldn't even stand. I attempted to make another and...same problem. She almost seems better off without a hobble, but is still a bit "waddle-y" today, yet. She is spunky and has eaten and drank, so I am a bit relieved. Still worried about her little crypt walk!

I like to have Poly Vi Sol with NO iron on hand. If a chick seems almost ok and I don't want to interfere too much I give them a drop or two of that. It will help them get over pretty much anything. I've used it on two that were severe cases and the first it took 3 weeks but she pulled out of some of the worst wry neck I've ever seen and now is one of my broody momma's. The other was a day old chick just a few days ago. One drop and she was back on her feet within 12 hours. You may want to try some just to help her along in the healing process. I've also heard of using a cup or shot glass to put their legs under them. Good luck and keep us posted.
