Hello! So, i have been searching all day on this website and on others about what to feed ducklings. I am going to get some duckling in a few days, or a week, and im trying to prepare for them. Im am so confused on what to feed my ducklings when i get them. Is it ok for ducklings to eat chick starter? What can they eat? I live near an Olsens Grain and i have seen that they have all kinds of bird feed, but dont have duck feed, starter or adult feed. Is there any kind of safe alternative to duck starter/adult duck feed? As you might tell, im very new to raising ducks. I have many questions but i keep finding tone of mixed opinions on them. Also when they grow up, whats the best to feed them then? Does it matter with different breeds, or even mixed breeds? I just need some advice, im so conflicted on everything.
Secondly, i have two dogs who are barkers. My coop for the ducks is in the back yard, but thats also where my dogs go, for we dont have a fenced in front yard. Is this a big problem? I dont think they will be able to get into the coop, but if they bark and pee/poo, will that scare or agitate then ducklings?
Thirdly, the ducks that im will be wanting/getting are one and two weeks old. Will they be able to stay in the coop or will i need to bring them inside?
Im sorry i have so many question, im just really new and worried i could hurt or kill these little ducks. Thank you so much or any advice!!
