is this bumble foot?

Thanks..I use DE all the time...never had this problem before..and my other chickens are fine.
I am no expert by any means and I hope some others weigh in on the situation, but I don't think that's bumble foot. One of my girls had bumble foot and it was on the bottom of her foot only. I think it is scaly mites also. I have never had to deal with it (fingers crossed I don't have to) but I remember seeing something about rubbing oil or Vaseline on the foot to suffocate the mites? Don't take my word on that though, do some research. I'm sure if you do a "scaly mite" search on here you will come up with a bunch of threads to look at.
I hope you can find answers soon and she gets better, good luck. It's so hard when they aren't well.

I'm sorry to tell you that DE is useless, but it is. If it worked, you would not have this problem. Scaly leg is so hard to treat and you can't see the darn things, they're so small. You need to coat her feet and legs in vasaline every day for two weeks (or some other safe smothering goo) Treat all the birds as they will all get it. They also make a spray for scaly leg mites. You should treat your coop as well. I would also do frequent soaks between vasaline or what ever treatment to soften up the dead scales, use toothpicks to scrape out dead mites and crud from under scales, keep her feet clean and be certain there is no bumble foot underneath what you see now.

I'm really starting to freak out were getting 6 chicks next week and I need to make sure the baby chicks will be ok.

Are you getting them from a hatchery or chick days or private? If it's hatchery, you may be able to reschedule your order if you explain why. You really want to get a handle on these mites first if you can. Homework!

ETA: here is a link about the mites. I disagree with any gasoline or the use of ivermectin tho. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/03/scaly-leg-mites-in-chickens.html also, if you use a toothpick for the really raised scales, tamp the tip slightly so it is not so sharp, otherwise, a soft toothbrush will work pretty good.

DO you think something like Diotomaceous earth might help? I know its horrible for insects because it dries them out but safe for livestock?
here's another great threat on the mites: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/27327/scaly-leg-mites

Please do not use DE around chickens! Even the crackpot FDA can't say it's more than a deterrent for bugs. This means you would have to use it continually. When you do that, the silica that the chickens breathe in daily ruins their respiratory tract, irritates their skin and eyes. I's like feeding and making them live in microscopic shards of glass. The amount of diatoms needed for bone growth is contained naturally in plants, clay etc. and a small amount is in feed for caking, drying and pest deterrent. No person and no animal is deficient in this stuff!
I'm sorry to poo on some peoples' parade but truly, it is bad for chickens, in their lungs, eyes, skin and digestive tract.
Please don't mistake me for a jerk, there are studies coming out finally, indicating that it is destructive in these ways.

I only pout a pinch of de in their food to help with internal parasites. I am aware of the hoping in the eyes and nostrils is bad so u never allow the de to float up and around them or myself. It is harmful if inhaled or gotten in the eyes.
