New to the Forum - New Orleans Area

I am also new to this forum. I purchased our first chickens a month ago but need to expand and need some for a friend. I have an Easter eggers and white briahana leghorn and a brown chick, not sure type.

Our family really are interested in getting some more Easter Eggers or a variety that produce blue or dark red eggs.

I am willing to drive but haven't really seen any locations that have that type of breed. Also willing to have get together a to discuss or chicks and best way to provide for them.

I am pleased to join the group and any advice or information will help thanks.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

You may be able to find some chicks on your state thread. You can use this link to get to members in your state:

You can also participate in the buy-sell-trade forum once you have 20 posts.

If you haven't been to the Learning Center, it's a great place to start. There are many very good articles on raising chicks and lots more information that will help you get off on the right foot.

Hi Maria and Lakewood Chick,

I am also from New Orleans. I just made my way over here and signed up recently. I've been raising quail and ducks for about 2 years, plus I have a micro farming operating with various vegetable growing systems that use hydroponics and wicking beds, as well as a small aquaculture system in my carport.

Lakewood Chick: Based on your name I do think I am right down the street from you. As far as I can tell, the only neighborhood with that name is right by Brechtel park.

Maria, I find that there are more people here in NOLA who like chickens than any other homesteading type animal. I know a lady on the northshore who raises very good quality poultry.
