Most of our chickens have scaly leg mites and I don't know how to treat it. I have heard about rubbing Vaseline on the legs but I don't know if it works.

I put the mix of kerosine and linseed (1:2) in a tall jar and dip the all leg of The chicken in the mix once a day for 2 weeks, every other day I scarab the leg with An old toothbrush (and the mix )and smear the leg whit Vaseline.( you can use mineral oil for the dipping )

Any time you have something in the mite or lice category, it is a good idea to complete clean out the building and scrub it down, spray with an insecticide and bring in new bedding. Scaly leg mite is contagious so it's best to quarantine affected bird. Sometimes, in bad infestations, they will affect the combs as well.
You should also put the kerosene/linseed mix on the roosts. A permethrin or 5% Sevin powder on the roosts can help.
If you use Ivermectrin, give a bantam 5 drops orally and for large fowl 1/4 cc. You won't be able to use the eggs for a while. Actually, ivermectin is best used on birds not kept for eggs or meat.
