Added eggs while incubating - update: all 6 ducklings hatched and younger egg in incubator

I understand. When I got my calls at auction I thought I was getting at least one girl...mother duck with 4 babies. Wrong. Mother duck is a drake. I got 1 female out of the whole lot

Wow that's really wrong. Was he at least a good mother? I knew this call duck and she grew up with 2 drakes. They did fine together, sadly they all got hit by a car and died. But I don't think there's many trios like that.

Donsje visited yesterday with 3 babies

There was one baby that looked like Donsje. Today she was gone

awee that's aweful, My calls are in groups, they could be in groups of 8 or 4, I do have a group of 3, 1 girl and 2 boys..

Yeah he was a good mum! I had no idea it was male till the green head came in. Now this fellow is not my favourite boy....but I have to keep him cos that one female adores him! I think he is the father of her one baby last year.
Your Donsje is lovely

My babies have grown up so much. They're almost fully feathered and spend most of their time on their own in the ditch. That's where they do their complicated bathing rituals. I've tried to teach them how to use the ramp to get on our property but they don't get it yet. So then they hang out on the grass next to our house.

This pretty girl (she quacks like a girl) has a beautiful white patch on her chest and she's super sweet and hangs out with baby Donsje

Eduard (don't ask I didn't name him) has a white patch too but he's mean to baby Donsje

They're so big!

I'm worried about their feet, some have these weird, wart-like structures on their heel/hock. I can't really look at it very good because they don't want to be picked up upside down.

Big Donsje in the background. Sadly she lost all her babies.

This is baby Donsje, she has the worst case of it, also where the joints in her toes are. Is this bumble feet? How does it need to be treaten? I can take her to the vet, but I'd like to know what antibiotics or other medicine would be safe for ducks (if necessary)

So sorry to hear about Donsje's babies. I'm not sure about the feet, someone else more experienced than me will know... I'm curious for an answer too though. Need to check mine...

Also, I had never noticed before, but noticed it on mine, and just noticed it in this pic of yours.... the duck's nail is black like it was painted with fingernail polish. I love it! Two of mine are like that. Notice something new every day with these little darlings. Beautiful group you have there!

It was heartbreaking to see her alone. She was upset for 2 days but now she's her usual self again.

Their nails are very sharp too.. Ouch! It's a pretty group indeed, I hope they continue to stick together when they're older.

So I just got back from the vet and he thinks it's callus because it's not wet or red (like usual infections) and it doesn't seem to hurt. And she was outside on rough tiling a lot. But he admitted he hasn't seen many duck feet... He told me to keep an eye on it. Do duck feet get callus?

I was going to say callous. Keep an eye on it. I've got a duck foot I'm trying to pic man it ain't easy!
They are stunning ducks, they look like Australian pacific blacks. Id be wanting some!
Your Donsje is lucky to have you
