I understand. When I got my calls at auction I thought I was getting at least one girl...mother duck with 4 babies. Wrong. Mother duck is a drake. I got 1 female out of the whole lot
awee that's aweful, My calls are in groups, they could be in groups of 8 or 4, I do have a group of 3, 1 girl and 2 boys..Wow that's really wrong. Was he at least a good mother? I knew this call duck and she grew up with 2 drakes. They did fine together, sadly they all got hit by a car and died. But I don't think there's many trios like that.

My babies have grown up so much. They're almost fully feathered and spend most of their time on their own in the ditch. That's where they do their complicated bathing rituals. I've tried to teach them how to use the ramp to get on our property but they don't get it yet. So then they hang out on the grass next to our house.
This pretty girl (she quacks like a girl) has a beautiful white patch on her chest and she's super sweet and hangs out with baby Donsje
So sorry to hear about Donsje's babies. I'm not sure about the feet, someone else more experienced than me will know... I'm curious for an answer too though. Need to check mine...
Also, I had never noticed before, but noticed it on mine, and just noticed it in this pic of yours.... the duck's nail is black like it was painted with fingernail polish. I love it! Two of mine are like that. Notice something new every day with these little darlings. Beautiful group you have there!
