What size are your poop boards? We have left over plywood ... but it's only 16". I read that we should use 24" .... but I dont really want to spend another $30 on a sheet of plywood if the 16" piece will work.

Use what you have and see how it works out. You can always change, enlarge , or modify as you see fit. Maybe add small rail to edges to keep rolling donuts in place.
WISHING YOU BEST

I have a plywood poop board, about 4 feet wide by 4 feet deep,, it's covered with linoleum for easy cleaning, am thinking about if I want to place 1x2's to create a shallow box with sand in there,,, some do that with kitty liter scoop for easy clean out.....

IIRC my husband built mine two feet wide (deep) and there are two five foot long sections end to end so 10 feet total. We have two roosts over the board with one slightly higher than the other, so I ended up with 20 feet of roost space available. We framed the edges so it is a "box" and I keep it lined with PDZ. If you center your roost over the board you have available you *should* be okay - if the occasional poop makes it over one side or the other it's still going to catch the majority of it and that's the idea.

Poop boards should be located higher than your nest boxes an preferably the highest spot for roosting through the night.
I have my 2x4 roost 3½ inches from my poop board.

I find the spacing ideal it saves the day when eggs are laid through the night while they are roosting.

I have my roost in cups and can just put them to one side when cleaning the board.

In my nest boxes I fold a feed bag to fit (nest boxes are 1 ft³). When a bag gets soiled; fold a new one; pop out the soiled; pop in the new.

Easy peasy!.

Chicken coop is salvaged 4x8 metal shed.

My roost over my poop boards is very similar to this photo (except my roost are resting on the lower 2x4).
I recently friction fit a piece of vinyl flooring over my poop board.it makes clean up even easier; Pop out; Scrap; Hose; Pop in.

Winter months even easier flex over compost bin DONE!

Easy peasy!.

Awesome! Thank you!!!!! Gonna start with my 16" board and see how it goes

The narrower the poop board the closer the roost should be to it........to avoid 'overshoots'.
But the hard to clean under the roost.

Mine are 24" wide, roost 8" above board, just enough room to reach under to clean without removing roost.
